Good Afternoon
UncategorizedGood afternoon everyone who is quarantined. I’d like to cheer you up by reminding you that you are not alone. We are in this together, and we will make it through. Also remember that just because your stuck inside doesn’t mean you are without nature. Think about buying a plant if you are inside your apartment or starting a garden if you own a home. I decided to go out to the Hamptons because I have a backyard out here and I don’t have any outdoor space in my Brooklyn apartment. This is my view this afternoon.
Escaping Corona
LifeStyleI’ve escaped NYC to head out to Long Island, where there are still lots of sick people, but this way I can be quarantined with my boyfriend and out of a hot spot in Brooklyn near lots of corona cases. My parents are staying put on the Upper West Side where the number of cases are smaller but there is already a person who tested positive in their building.
Because I have psoriasis and take an immune suppressant called Stelara, so I have to be extra careful and cannot get sick. I also have asthma and a history of bad upper respiratory infections. Corona for me would not be “just another flu,” getting sick is actually a matter of life and death for me.
It shocking to me that people are still not taking social distancing seriously. One of the reasons I left the city is because when I would go running in prospect park I saw lots of people out exercising, taking pictures, playing with their kids, or even just trying to pass the time while either working from home or not working at all. “Its no big deal”, “Its just the flu”, you say … or you’re thinking “I won’t actually get ‘sick’ sick”. This is type of thinking is what will kill me, my parents, and even maybe your parents. #stayinghomesaveslives
I’ve had to stop taking my skin medication Stelara to enhance my immune system. Before starting Stelara I had flaky, itchy plaques of psoriasis all over my body. I even had pustule psoriasis on the palms of my hands which was a negative side effect of another medication I used to take called Enbrel. Since starting Stelara over 5 years ago, I barely have skin breakouts anymore. However, now that I’ve had to stop taking my medication, my skin is seriously suffering.
I’ve purchased a narrow band UVB therapy light, and I have steroid topical creams I can use, but I can’t take my medication until this pandemic is over. If we all collectively do what we are supposed to flatten the curve, we can all go back to normal soon. Don’t think that you’re stuck at home, you’re actually safe at home. Stay healthy, and stay home!
Keeping in Touch While Social Distancing
LifeStyleNew York City has been hit hard by the covid-19 virus and New Yorkers are held up in their apartments working from home. My friends and I have been coping by doing weekly video chats with each other. Hopefully this will help us all stay sane. We are all trying our best to reduce the curve and practice social distancing until this all blows over, but you also have to do what’s best for your mental health. I have been doing solo runs in Prospect Park and spending some time on my rooftop for some sun exposure, but I have been very careful to avoid contact with people.

Like most girls, I loved making friendship bracelets at summer camp. Now I use upscale beads like moonstone, rose quartz, and cubic zirconia to make jewelry. I always buy my beads from https://www.firemountaingems.com/ .

Scrapbooking
Have you been collecting concert tickets or wrist bands? Saving precious memories? Polaroids have made a comeback, I bet you have some laying around. Why not put them all in an album? Buy some washi tape and go crazy!
Brew your own kombucha or beer
There are many companies that sell kombucha or beer making kits for inside your house. Its like having a living science experiment in your home, until you drink it haha. Here are some beer making kits from the Brooklyn Brew Shop: https://brooklynbrewshop.com/collections/beer-making-kits .
Dye Your Hair! (Not permanently)
Why not go a little crazy? I know I did! You won’t be going to work for a little while, why not mix it up a little by changing up your look. There are several color depositing conditioner on the market now, overtone being the most well known. These conditioning hair masks deposit color pigments onto your hair and the color will come out after a few washes. This also means that to achieve the best results, your hair should be on the lighter side. I’m blonde and I sometimes highlight my hair and I really like using these products. Beauty, HairSince we are all self isolating (I hope!), I decided to dye my hair because I will be working remotely for the next few weeks.
Panasonic Nanoe Hair Dryer
Beauty, ShoppingEver since the Dyson hair dryer came onto the market, I have been interested in buying a new hair dryer. I’ve had the same hair dryer for over 5 years now and I thought it was time for a new one. Black Friday seemed like the perfect time to buy one. I decided on a Panasonic Nanoe hair dryer. I have purchased other high quality Panasonic devices, including a face steamer, and I’ve been very happy with my other purchases so far.
Most of the time I use my hair dryer to just dry my hair. Normally I don’t spending a lot of time styling my hair with a dryer. I basically just use it as a hot air gun haha. But I have very fine hair, and I do anything I can to avoid damaging my hair. This dryer manages to not only dry my hair with minimal damage, but it barely makes my hair frizzy at all. It leaves my hair smoother and more shiny than if I had air dried my hair. Now thats amazing!

Events, LifeStyleHow I care for my hair
BeautyI probably only cut my hair about twice a year, if that. You would also probably be shocked to hear that I actually cut my own hair sometimes (O.o). I take off around 2-4 inches or more each time I get my hair cut.
Did you know that cutting your hair does *not* make your hair grow faster?
You should however give yourself a little trim if you have a lot of split ends. You can try using a split end mender conditioning product, like some of the items I’ve listed below, but those products can only get you so far and you might need to go for the chop.
I shampoo my hair “the french way” I’ve been told. I take an empty hair coloring bottle and put a small amount of shampoo inside. I then fill it to the top with water and shake it up. I then use the pointy tip to get as close as I can to the roots of my hair as a gently “rinse” my hair with the soapy liquid.
Its good to give your scalp a nice massage, even better to use one of these massagers once a month.

LifeStyleDiner en Blanc
Events, LifeStyleThis exclusive event was started by a small group of friends in Paris, but has now grown into a worldwide sensation. Diner en Blanc, which literally means dinner in white in french, is a sophisticated outdoor picnic where everyone wears all white. The big catch is no one knows where the event is going to be held until the day of! When you buy the tickets you select a departure point and you have to get there at the exact scheduled meeting time and thats when the location is revealed. Then your table group travel to the location together as a group using public transportation.
Cartier Bracelet
ShoppingOMG I am so shocked! My family got my the best birthday present!! They got me a Cartier Juste un Clou bracelet! I’m so incredibly happy and grateful for having such a wonderful family.

ShoppingThe items that are listed below are all items I have purchased on my own. None of these products are promotions and I have not been paid to post any of these products.
2) Super Aqua-peeling gel
This gel is a gentle peeling exfoliator that is one of my favorite K-beauty products. As it dries you start rubbing your face in circular motions to create gentle pearls that exfoliates your skin.
Budget Beauty
2) Junetics Cleanser
This cleanser is actually quite similar to other (way more expensive) cleansers I’ve tried from some K-beauty brands. However, this is not my favorite. Although it’s a creamy cleanser, it strips my skin of all my oils. I have dry skin, and this cleanser really leaves my skin feeling parched. But my mom on the other hand really likes this one because its so creamy and has a luxurious foam for the price.
Housewares
1) Bar drip-tray
Do your friends think they’re bartenders? Do they spill drinks all over your countertop? This drip tray will help contain those drunken splashes and occasional clumsiness.
3) Mini Fridge for beauty products
As I started putting more and more of my beauty products in the fridge do to expiration concerns, I started to realize that keeping food with skincare is a weird storage combination. Thats when I decided to get a small mini fridge for my skincare products. Not only does it help keep your products fresher for longer but it also helps reduce redness and inflammation when you’re applying cold products.
Kick Axe Brooklyn
EventsFor my birthday, I took my friends to throw some axes! I’ve been to Kick Axe Brooklyn twice before and its a lot of fun. I always have such a blast! It’s also a spot for a date. It’s actually a lot easier than you think and I’ve never seen anyone get hurt so don’t worry about that! There is an instructional safety demo for the first fifteen minuets and they explain everything you need to know. Trust me, you won’t get hurt and its so much fun!

Pink Hair
BeautySeveral months ago I finally landed and steady full-time 9/5 job. If ur wondering why i haven’t really been posting, thats why. I then went to a tiny music festival in steventown in upstate new york. I then got some inspiration from mutual friends at the festival to color my hair pink!
The reason I’m deciding to do this now, even though many people would consider me “too old” for this type of look, is because I finally have a good steady job. I’m a web developer that works in a tech office where the CEO and other higher-ups don’t physically see me. Also tech jobs generally have a much more laidback dress code than most other workplace environments.
I have been using color depositing hair masks and conditioners. This type of hair color treatment means that the color slowly washes out with each shampoo. If you apply the product correctly, it wont come out in one day even if you shampoo a bunch of times. Plus, you wouldn’t want to do this anyway because it would dry out your hair a lot!
The product I used was from Amazon and it actually does a great job! It actually stained my sink when I forgot to wash it off.

This shower jell dispenses like a shaving cream foam. This makes this product a very luxurious experience ever time you shower.
L’Occitane Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil, 8.4 fl. oz.
I have psoriasis and extremely dry skin. I love all body oils, but most of the time I don’t have the time to apply body oil every morning. The L’Occitane body oil is my favorite but there are others that I like like Rituals shower oil, and Nivea shower oil.
This is actually a product I originally purchased for an x-boyfriend, but I used it and fell in love (with this product, not the boy haha). It’s a coarse facial scrub infused with peppermint oil. The strong scent and refreshing sensation from the peppermint oil is a great way to wake up in the morning.
Color Factory NYC
EventsI had a really rough week at work so my boyfriend and I decided to stay in on Saturday night. On Sunday, I really wanted to do something but wasn’t really sure at first what to do. We finally decided to visit the color factory in nyc . This interactive popup exhibition is an immersive color experience.
